18th March 2024One to One’s Prenatal Nutrition Programme Empowers Last Mile Communities
9th April 2024One to One Africa recently conducted a training session at the Mpilo Health Park Clinic to enhance the skills of Desmond Tutu peer navigators, research nurses, and health park coordinators. This training focused on implementing our ‘Better Together’ model, aimed at better supporting adolescents living with chronic illnesses.
The ‘Better Together’ model is a holistic approach that recognises the unique needs of adolescents with chronic illnesses. It emphasises the importance of providing comprehensive care and support, not just for their physical health but also for their mental and emotional well-being. By training staff on this model, we aim to improve the quality of care and support provided to adolescents, helping them lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.
The Mpilo Health Park Clinic plays a crucial role in our efforts. Originally launched as a youth centre in 2011, it was restructured as an emergency vaccine centre in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, as the vaccine centre has closed, it has transitioned into the Mpilo Health Park, offering youth-friendly services staffed by trained nurses and doctors. The clinic is supported by the Western Cape Department of Health, highlighting the importance of this service in the community.
We remain committed to our mission of empowering adolescents living with chronic illnesses and are grateful for the opportunity to continue our work in partnership with the Mpilo Health Park Clinic. Together, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
