One to One Children’s Fund and One to One Africa express our solidarity with Black communities and all marginalised communities.
We are committed to addressing racial inequality, injustice and discrimination wherever we see it, but particularly in the contexts in which we work in maternal and child health. We see injustice and inequality directly with the much higher death rate in childbirth experienced by Black women and women from other marginalised communities all over the world and their lack of access to quality health care.
One to One is taking small steps of our own to work differently in the remote Eastern Cape region of South Africa. Recent events have caused us to reflect further on the way we run our organisation, how we can continue to empower our Mentor Mothers and local staff, and how we advocate against distributive injustice in the health system.
